Enola's Concrete, Masonry, and Excavation Contractor

Maybe it’s the driveway on your split-level that has heaved at the garage door. Maybe it’s a backyard that slopes toward the house and leaves the patio under water every spring. Or maybe it’s the front steps on an older house near the river that have finally started to come apart. You want the problem solved for good, and you want to know the price before anyone starts digging.

Terra Firma Concrete is based in Lemoyne, about ten minutes south of Enola on Routes 11/15. Matthew has more than 15 years of construction experience. He comes out to your property, looks at what’s really going on, and puts a proposal in writing with the scope, the price, and the timeline.

We do the excavation, concrete, and masonry work with our own crew. That matters in Enola, where a lot of jobs start with fixing a grade or a drainage problem before the concrete can go in.

Concrete and Masonry Services in Enola and East Pennsboro Township

Enola grew up around the railroad. The Pennsylvania Railroad opened its Enola Yard in 1905, and starting in 1909 its realty company built more than 220 homes for the families who came to work there. The township kept growing for decades after, between the river and Blue Mountain, so today Enola has early railroad-era houses near the river, mid-century ranches and split-levels on the hillsides, and newer townhomes near the main roads. Each of those brings different concrete and masonry needs.

Grading, Drainage, and Site Prep on Sloped Lots

A lot of East Pennsboro sits on rising ground, and many backyards slope toward the house or toward a neighbor. When water has nowhere to go, it ends up under your patio, against your foundation, or in your basement. Pouring new concrete on top of that problem only hides it for a season or two.

We fix the ground first. With our compact track loader we regrade the yard, install drainage where it’s needed, and build a compacted stone base so the new slab has something stable to sit on. If the grade change is too steep to slope, we build a retaining wall to hold it and create a flat, usable space.

Driveways for Mid-Century Homes

Driveways poured decades ago on the ranch and split-level streets have usually reached the end of their life: cracked, scaling from road salt, and settled where they meet the garage slab or the street. We remove the old concrete, correct the base, set the slope so water runs away from the garage, and pour a new driveway with control joints and a finish that holds up to Central PA winters. If you’ve been thinking about widening the driveway or adding a parking pad, that’s the time to do it.

Patios, Steps, and Walkways

For a backyard patio, we plan the size and slope around how you’ll actually use the space and where the water needs to go, then excavate, base, and pour. We also replace failing front steps and walkways, and we can match an existing brick or stone stoop on an older home near the river. Pavers are an option too if you prefer them over poured concrete.

Foundations, Garages, and Small Commercial Work

For homeowners adding a garage, a room, or a shed, we dig and pour the footings and foundation, including foundation drainage. For businesses and property managers along the Route 11/15 corridor, we handle ADA-compliant ramps, sidewalks, pads, and commercial flatwork.

FAQs About Concrete and Masonry in Enola

Enola isn't a borough. Who do I check with about permits?

Enola is part of East Pennsboro Township, so permits and right-of-way questions go to the township, not a borough office. New driveway entrances, work along a township road, foundations, and larger retaining walls are the projects most likely to need approval. We’ll check the requirements for your project and tell you up front.

Water pools on my patio and against the house. Can new concrete fix that?

Only if the grade is fixed too. Pooling usually means the slab was poured flat or sloped toward the house, or the yard drains toward it. We correct the grade, add drainage where it’s needed, and pour the new patio with a slope that carries water away from the foundation.

My yard is too steep to use. What are my options?

A retaining wall can turn a slope into a level patio or play area. We excavate, set the footing, install drainage stone and pipe behind the wall, and build it to hold the soil behind it. Matthew will look at the slope and the soil and recommend the wall height and layout that make sense.

Where do you come from, and what days do you work in Enola?

We’re based in Lemoyne, about ten minutes south on Routes 11/15. We work throughout Enola, Summerdale, West Fairview, and the rest of the township, Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM.

Can you match the brick or stone on an older Enola home?

Usually, yes. Many of the older homes near the river have original brick or stone steps and foundations. We match the material and mortar as closely as we can so a repair or rebuilt stoop looks like it belongs with the house.

Do you pour garage and shed foundations?

Yes. We excavate, form, and pour footings and slab foundations for detached garages, additions, and sheds, and we install drainage around them when the site calls for it.
