How deep do footings need to be in Pennsylvania?
Footings in Central Pennsylvania need to sit below the frost line — generally at least 36 inches deep — so the freeze-thaw cycle can’t heave them. Exact depth and dimensions depend on your municipality’s code and the load the footing carries. We dig to proper depth and build to code on every project.
